I have chosen this one because of its powerful representation of art in the struggle. As the ship sinks and the International brigadiers are pulled down….in the last moment they hold up a trumpet in defiance. The trumpet is symbolic of the call to us all to remember the role of the history of the International brigades, who blow the trumpet for the advancement for humanity. For me this image says the struggle continues.
(Cat) El 1r dels 4 dissenys que he triat per fer per al monument del Solidarity Park per al 2023 és de Leo Sancho Cano de l’Institut Marti Pous de Barcelona. He triat aquest per la seva poderosa representació de la art en la lluita. A mesura que el vaixell s’enfonsa i els brigadistes internacionals són tirats cap avall…. en l’últim moment sostenen una trompeta en desafiació. La trompeta és simbòlica d’una crida a tots a recordar el paper de la història de les brigades internacionals, que toquen la trompeta per a l’avanç de la humanitat. Per a mi aquesta imatge diu que la lluita continua.
Vaig triar aquest perquè mostra els pescadors de Malgrat anant en ajuda de les Brigades Internacionals, un episodi clau de la història. M’agrada molt la tendresa i suavitat de l’obra que va captar l’amor en la solidaritat d’afanyar-se a salvar un altre ésser humà d’ofegar-se. També em van atrapar els remolins del mar que de seguida vaig poder veure transformats en pedra.
(Eng) The 2nd of 4 designs I have chosen to make for the Solidarity Park monument for 2023 is by Sara Massague Torrubia from Insitute Ramon Turró in Malgrat de Mar.
I chose this one because it shows the fishermen of Malgrat going to the aid of the International brigades a key episode in the story. I really like the tenderness and softness of the work that captured the love in the solidarity of rushing to save another human being from downing. I also was caught by the swirls in the sea that I immediately could see being transformed into stone.
I chose this design because it shows the events of the sinking from the view of the international brigadiers. They are seeing the Catalunya for the first time and the realities of war. The view of Malgrat de Mar is important it says to me that the struggle of the international brigades is always linked to the town. I also loved the powerful use of one colour and the shapes and placement of the perspectives were ideal to carve into stone.

Vaig triar aquest disseny perquè mostra els esdeveniments de l’enfonsament des del punt de vista dels brigadistes internacionals. Estan veient Catalunya per primera vegada i les realitats de la guerra. La visió de Malgrat de Mar és important, em diu que la lluita de les brigades internacionals sempre va lligada al poble. També em va encantar l’ús poderós d’un color i les formes i la col·locació de les perspectives eren ideals per tallar en pedra.
Vaig triar aquest disseny perquè era senzill. Mostra l’immens poder i l’energia del mar, però igualment l’immens poder i l’energia de les brigades internacionals i les seves idees a través del símbol icònic que mai es pot enfonsar.
