The festival will have music, performance, poetry, film, visual imagery and other arts mixed with history and stories of participation in the Solidarity Park project.
Solidarity Park Festival is part of a memorial project for approximately 300 International Brigaders on board the Ciudad de Barcelona, which was sunk by a fascist submarine on 30 May 1937, during the Spanish Civil War.
The project is building a monument at the site from where local fishermen went to save survivors, on the beach at Malgrat de Mar, a coastal town in Catalonia.
Solidarity Park is a community participation project that unites the local and international communities in learning the history of the International Brigades in order to combat the far right today.
The ethos of the project is to use art and participation to reach the new generations, by organising exhibitions, festivals and doing events in schools.
Hundreds of artists have been involved and the festival will highlight many of them.
While this year it is an online event, we plan to build and hold a big international festival in the future as a reference point against the far right and building internationalism and solidarity.
Please donate to help us create a yearly festival https://chuffed.org/project/solidarity-park if you can.
